News Analyst

The News Analyst reports to the Senior Director of Research and is primarily responsible for curating high-quality, timely, and relevant industry news for Vertical IQ’s clients. The ideal candidate should have experience with business news, keen editorial judgment, and the ability to write insightfully about the impact of news upon specific industries. The ability to curate news for a wide variety of industries over time is required. This role will support company success through informing our clients of the latest news, trends, statistics, and operations of industries in sectors spanning healthcare, manufacturing, construction, and professional services, to name a few.

The individual must be comfortable working independently and using the company’s web-based platform. The ideal person will be a self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Research a wide variety of business news sources
  • Find and publish high-quality, timely news that directly impacts an industry
  • Write about business news and its impact on industries and sectors
  • Use media monitoring software and other news-gathering technology
  • Assist in the development and implementation of news enhancements
  • Supply inputs for marketing collateral and content
  • Attend department and company meetings as required
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration, journalism or related field
  • Experience writing on business or economics
  • Experience using media monitoring or other types of software

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and goal-minded
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across the team and organization

Location

Vertical IQ operates in North America with an office in Raleigh, NC. This role can be based anywhere in the United States and will require up to 5% travel.
