I was working with a lumber distributor who asked me about certain financial metrics within the industry. I did some research on Vertical IQ before the call and was able to reference the “million board feet”; a form of measurement in the lumber world. When I have a customer needing their business valuated, I will go into Vertical IQ to find key business questions and answers to bring to the table. Customers appreciate when we use their keywords and terminology, which helps me feel confident in what I’m saying.

He is not new to Industry Intelligence platforms and specifically uses Vertical IQ for the market pricing and valuation metrics. Once the data is collected from the platform, it’s added into all client reports which are used to determine the value of their unique business. The financial benchmark data is very helpful. We use it to offer guidance to our clients when their spending is limited compared to the rest of the industry. We also use the guidelines within the Business Valuation chapter when a client is considering selling their business.
