Ingo Winzer is a nationally recognized economist and real estate market analyst with more than three decades of experience interpreting housing trends and economic conditions. He currently serves as chief economist for Vertical IQ and is the founder and president of Local Market Monitor, a Vertical IQ company, which is the leading provider of real estate market forecasts and analytics for hundreds of U.S. metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs).

Over the course of his career, Ingo has built a reputation for clear, data-driven insights into housing markets across the United States. His analysis has been widely cited in national media, where he is frequently called upon to comment on real estate trends, home price dynamics, and economic conditions affecting local markets. He is a regular contributor to Forbes with articles on the U.S. economy and factors that affect real estate markets.

Notably, prior to the 2008 financial crisis, Ingo warned that many U.S. housing markets were significantly overvalued, an assessment that proved prescient when the housing bubble collapsed. His forward-looking approach continues to help businesses, investors, and financial institutions better understand market risk and opportunity.

Ingo’s exceptional forecasting ability has made him a four-time recipient of the distinguished Crystal Ball Award from Pulsenomics. This distinction places him among the most accurate economic forecasters in the housing and mortgage industries, demonstrating his unparalleled expertise in predicting market trends. In addition to his work in real estate analytics, Ingo previously co-founded First Research, an industry research firm that provided market intelligence to financial institutions. The company was acquired by Dun & Bradstreet in 2007.

Ingo holds a degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), graduating in 1969, and earned an MBA in Finance from Boston University. He currently resides in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
