As Mental Health Awareness Month unfolds during the month of May, we at Vertical IQ are honored to join the conversation surrounding mental health and well-being. As a company that strives for a healthy work-life balance, we recognize the impact that mental health has on our employees’ lives, both personally and professionally.
In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle. That’s why it can be helpful to find some pockets of joy throughout even the busiest workdays. We asked a few of our amazing Vertical IQ team members about their favorite tips for maintaining work-life balance. Here’s what they had to say:
“I take small breaks throughout my work day, like going for a quick walk in between calls. Taking my eyes off a computer screen for just 5 minutes here and there has been a huge game-changer for me. Vertical IQ’s employee gym stipend also helps me stay active throughout the week, allowing me to be my best, most productive self in and out of the office.”
Cole Teal, Account Executive
“It’s important to take time during the day to connect with another human being, especially if you work remotely. I try to schedule time each workday for in-person communication with a friend, whether it be lunch, a walk, or Friday happy hour. All of these things can make you feel part of the broader world and lift your spirits.”
Alexandra Bangs, Research Analyst
“In order to show up for your team, you have to prioritize your mental health and well-being, whether it’s spending a few minutes in the sunshine throwing a ball for our dogs or (on lucky days) running to catch the ice cream truck. Simple things like changing your scenery, standing while working, and jamming out to a good playlist boost your happiness and enable you to bring your best self to the table for your team!”
Brin Sullivan, Integrated Marketing Manager
“My wife and I have made Wednesdays our dedicated ‘Activity Night’ to do a fun activity, let loose, and have a good time together. Whether it’s fishing, dinner downtown, or taking a walk in the park, dedicating a certain night of the week to something enjoyable is a great way to consistently have something to look forward to, unplug from the workday, and be intentional with our time together.”
Paul Hock, VP of Sales & Strategic Partnerships
